From the mere age of six years old I had a lifelong dream to travel to the land of the rising sun. The moment I wore that cute Yukata from my Japanese student (Yep, that's me in the photo!) I knew that I had a calling to immerse myself in a land that is so rich of culture and history. I can't believe it has taken almost twenty years for me to actually embark on that mission!During my University days I undertook a major project that focussed on the stereotypes and identities in Japanese culture. Heavily influenced by Artist/Photographer, Cindy Sherman, I decided to create my own spin on things and dressed up in several Japanese looks and documented it in the medium of photography along with a stop motion film. After the project I released a self-published book showcasing photography from the exhibition, Left My Heart in Harajuku (check it out).Only shy of 48 hours, I'll be taking the very first steps towards a new adventure in Japan! I can't describe the amount of crazy things that are going through my head right now....you could say that it's almost as chaotic as the Shibuya crossing. Wish me luck and I'll be sure to share my wonderful journey with all of you awesome people. Be sure to follow me along on Instagram and on Nezuki...of course!
