Meow, cat lovers! You'll want to check out this place if you're in Tokyo. The Hapineko Cat Café is truly a cute experience for any cat lover, of any age. During my stay in Japan I was trying to scout a cosy cat café that I could get my paws on. I was walking down the street in Shibuya and while looking up at all of the wonderful stores I came across this hidden gem. The café is open from 12 noon and accommodates to all feline fanatics from all walks of life. The price of entry includes one beverage of your choice and you can also select how long you'd like to stay. I opted for the iced peach oolong tea and a brief 30 minutes of kitty time. I was ushered in where I was greeted by some very cute meowing cats, I was given slippers and a lanyard with departure time. My sights were set on the vacant couch on the left but I was so overwhelmed with cuteness that I didn't know where to look first.
Unfortunately, these Japanese cats were bad ass and had a bit of attitude compared to cats back in Australia. However, their nest is very clean (even fur-free) and doesn't have the smell of cat, plus the service is really hospitable so this makes up for it. A once in a lifetime experience, something that probably won't ever come to Australia due to our tight food & health restrictions.
