My favourite illustrator, Tara McPherson, recently came to Sydney as one of the speakers at Semi-Permanent, I was in complete bliss to find out that she was also holding a pop-up event at the Outré Gallery in the city. I decided to come and check it out, I was really happy that I managed to secure a beautiful limited edition print to bring home with me. Along with trying to beat the queues of crazy fan girls and boys, we got to sample some delicious wine featuring labels designed by Tara.

Tara's works and her subject matter have always played with my heart strings, especially because most of her work is made authentically by hand without too much aid of a computer. Her uniqueness and cute pieces were the inspiration for my year 12 major art project, some years ago. At the Semi-Permanent conference, she even confessed "I hate Illustrator", making me one very happy girl to realise that even a super talented artist like her prefers to use traditional mediums and people still love it.
Unfortunately as I had to run for my flight I didn't get to meet her in person, but I'm sure that I will head down to her wonderful store, Cotton Candy Machine, in Brooklyn to snatch some wonderful new art pieces.
