Uniqlo x Marimekko

I love colour and bright statement outfits, it's part of who I am and an expression of whom I am as a person. Being creative in the way I dress makes me feel happy and provides the confidence to get through the day.

It's a common occurrence for people to compliment the outfit I'm wearing and then follow by "you can pull it off" or "it suits you but there's no way I could wear that!" - it initially starts as an innocent gesture it over ripens into a rotten state of cynicism.

Everyone has the right and freedom to wear what they like, when they chose - without judgement. Whilst my style is a touch bolder than most people are comfortable with, I truly wish people would grow the courage to task risks in fashion. With the launch of UNIQLO's latest collaboration with Finnish design house, Marimekko, customers can now inject a little colourful flair and "bring joy" to their wardrobe at an affordable price too!

I've styled the UNIQLO x Marimekko graphic short sleeve dress with my favourite nude leather western style ankle boots and some statement jewellery. You're probably thinking that I've gone a little too far with the jewellery because the dress is already a heavy, bright print, but this is incredibly subjective - for me, more is more. Fluorescent yellow tassel statement earrings with a chunky beaded necklace help break up the print so it doesn't like you're wearing a tent, drawing attention to your pretty face!

In doubt, a pair of sunglasses will finish off the look - I'm wearing a gorgeous pink mirror round frame that I purchased whilst travelling in Harajuku, Japan.

The second look is perfect for everyday wear - the UNIQLO x Marimekko graphic tee is a must-have, especially for the print and colour nervous folks. If you're edging your way into prints, it's easy to pair it with a plain or block colour to tone the whole thing down a notch. Keeping the look effortless and comfortable, a pair of sneakers or Chuck Taylor leather low cuts (here) will do the trick.

My shades of choice play with the other bright pops - Karen Walker have some beautiful statement sunnies, if you're after something a little more disposable try out eBay and you'll find a hero style that speaks volumes whilst protecting your eyes from the harsh sun.

How would you have styled these UNIQLO x Marimekko looks? Comment below. I am excited to try the tee with my bubblegum pink biker jacket but need to find the perfect skirt. For any looks you'd like to see of any recommendations on how you would style these two items - I'd love to hear from the NEZUKI fam so comment below!
